FHHS’ Girls Varsity Soccer wrapped up their 2024-25 season with a record that reflected both strong victories and tough setbacks. According to PSAL’s official scheduling, the team posted an overall mark of 2-4-4 during the season.
The team demonstrated its offensive potential during several standout wins. Among the more victories was a 7-0 triumph over Campus Magnet High School, showcasing the Rangers’ ability to dominate when fully in sync.
“This was an amazing game. I was very happy,” said Jade Aba, a sophomore on the team.

On the defensive side, the Rangers also collected convincing wins such as a 6-1 victory over Hillcrest High School and an 8-1 win against Bowne High School.
Despite these wins, the season also included a few difficult losses that expressed some areas for improvement. The team’s losses, such as a 0-4 defeat to Francis Lewis High School as well as a 0-5 loss to Newtown High School, didn’t define the season. These games highlighted moments when consistency, management, and resilience became important issues.
“Newtown was a frustrating game. We played really well, and it could have gotten worse. We still managed to have fun even though we lost. it showed what we need to work out in the season,” said Jasmin Aba, the captain of the team this year.

“Our goal next year is to keep building out the program, developing players skills and hopefully get into playoffs and have a winning record. Our goal as coaches is for every player to have a positive experience and feel that they have a role in some capacity whether they are our number one scorer, team manager, or as a sub making a difference,” said Assistant Coach Ms. O’Shea, who has been a key advocate in driving the girls to their successful plays.

Junior Isabela Villegas Marin expressed the differences between the two seasons. “This season was definitely tougher than the last. We faced stronger teams, school, work, and other responsibilities, so it took more focus and discipline to stay consistent. But in a way, that made the season more rewarding- every game felt like it actually meant something.”
This year, the team took on major challenges, to say the least. The girls triumphed over these hardships and improved their performance to the best of their abilities.
As the program moves into the next season, key focuses for the Rangers will most likely include converting dominant victories into consistent performance, tightening structure during tougher matchups, and continuing to build depth and experience across the roster.
The foundation is being laid for potential improvement.
“Being on this team has shaped me in a lot of ways. It thought me discipline, teamwork, and accountability. I learned how to handle pressure, support others, and lead by example. It’s not just about playing soccer; it’s about becoming more confident, balanced, and

responsible both on and off the field,” said Isabela.
In many ways, the 2024-25 season for Forest Hills’ Girls Varsity Soccer served as both a showcase of high peaks and left room for some improvement. As the team looks ahead, the lessons learned this year will be building blocks for the next upcoming season.
