On Nov. 15, of 2024, Ms. Franke’s two AP Language and Composition classes embarked on a field trip to the Forest Hills location of restaurant chain, Bareburger. As rhetorical analysis is an essential part of that AP exam, the students went to review the ambiance, service and food quality of the restaurant. Below are three of the reviews -plus an image- that a few students wrote based on their experiences.

I would rate my trip to Bareburger 5 out of 5 stars. This was my first time coming to Bareburger, and it did not disappoint. When I first walked into the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised with its appearance. The ambiance of the restaurant was very welcoming and comforting. There were no sanitary issues and everything was clean and well-organized. The staff were very friendly and kind. As far as service goes, I was extremely pleased with what I had received. There was a small wait when it came to the food, but that is understandable considering that I had come in with a large group. When the food came it was 100% worth the wait. The food was delicious and was beyond my expectations, leaving me wanting more. Everything was cooked, seasoned, and prepared perfectly. Additionally, I was also able to see their nice outside dining area that was pretty and nice to sit in afterwards to relax.
I really enjoyed my experience and I would definitely visit again.

Usually, it’s easy for restaurants in commercial areas to focus more on ambiance and lose focus on the food quality. Luckily, I would say that Bareburger exceeded my expectations considering the burgers were flavorful, well prepped, and tender. I feel that places such as Bareburger with a high price range tend to oversell, come off as pompous, and ultimately present the most mediocre burgers seen to man. However, to my surprise, the burgers genuinely were not bad. I chose to eat a vegan burger due to dietary restrictions; and, to be honest, I was skeptical but the burger was very meaty ironically. The meal was composed of a rather large burger, a large serving of fries, and a drink on the side, totaling $30 (The price range varies depending on which type of burger is chosen, for reference I chose the vegan option which was slightly pricier) I was very relieved to know they had vegan options that weren’t limited to side dishes. This shows Bareburger’s thoughtfulness and inclusivity.
As for ambiance, that is truly subjective. I did not love the ambiance because my seat was next to the washroom but hey, that’s bad everywhere. On the other hand, I did love the fact that they used dim yellow-hued lights which are easy on the eyes and in my opinion make it easier to eat without fear of judgment (as white bright hospital-type lights tend to manifest rather unpleasant visuals while eating). The decor consisted of a lot of lime green and yellow which was a stark contrast to the electronic blue and black dominated bar right beside us. There was also a nice seating area outside which was great for long conversations.
Overall, I would rate the Bareburger trip 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I went to Bareburger on Nov. 15, 2024 and I would rate my trip a 5 out of 5 stars. This was my first time going here, despite being in Forest Hills most days and trying many different restaurants in this area. I have to say that the service was extremely amazing. Upon arrival, we were greeted with much hospitality by the staff and seated almost immediately. Between being seated and receiving our food, there was a bit of wait time, however it was expected since I went with a large group. I ordered the Classic Chix, which was a chicken sandwich, along with fries and a coca cola. The presentation of the food was done in an extremely professional manner, with everything neatly placed on the plate. The food was cooked to perfection and the flavor was definitely savory. I got to experience the outside dining area, which was well decorated and offered a relaxing mood, with a view of the outside environment, while semi-enclosed by a clear ceiling.
I would definitely recommend trying Bareburger, and I would certainly return here in the future.
