Exploring style and warmth during the fall season; as temperatures drop, it’s essential to maintain both comfort and style in our wardrobe choices.
Here’s a guide to fall fashion and some key elements to consider as you dress for the season.
Layering
Layering not only provides warmth but also allows for versatile styling and a form of self expression. Mr. Jacobs, a SAPIS Counselor at Forest Hills High School, explains how he gets through the cold seasons of NYC. “Warm yet fashionable attire requires layering. Sweaters, vests, leg warmers, sleeves, turtle necks, etc. Hats and scarves are also excellent fashionable accessories that will keep you warm. Materials that are good for this weather are cotton, wool —cashmere being the best—, down, fleece, leather, and suede.”
Textures
Textures play a role in fall fashion while trying to stay stay on trend and finding your personal style. Ms. Mendez, FHHS school aide, says “animal print and leather [are] never out of style.” Mixing different textures can elevate an outfit. Fall season offers an opportunity to experiment with warm and earthy tones and a seasonal palette.
